Threat Made Against SCHS; ‘Legal Action Taken’

Columbus County Schools released the following statement Sunday night:

“On February 2nd, at approximately 7:22 PM, South Columbus High School received a threat of violence via Remind and email from a student account. Local law enforcement was immediately contacted, and after a thorough investigation, they determined the threat was not credible. Appropriate legal action has been taken.

We take all threats of violence seriously and will only continue school operations when we are fully confident in the safety of our students and staff.

We encourage parents to discuss this event with their children as they see fit, as misinformation may circulate throughout the school day.

Any necessary updates will be shared directly with parents via Remind, social media, phone calls, and the Columbus County Schools App. We appreciate the support of law enforcement and remind everyone to report any school safety concerns to authorities or through the See Something, Say Something app.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping our school community safe.”
