UPDATE 2: Bill Rogers Appointed As New Sheriff
UPDATE: After Wednesday’s hearing in Whiteville, STATE V. GREENE, Jody Greene has resigned again. It is assumed Bill Rodges will be appointed back to the acting sheriff but it is not clear as the county may hold an emergency meeting to appoint someone.
Chief Deputy Kevin Norris is meeting with Greene, District Attorney Jon David, Superior Court Judge Douglas Sasser and others now.
Are we racist? is this the good old boy system? why was he voted back? what do the people think?
It’s not that simple of a question, here’s the facts as we know them:

Let’s start from the beginning.
On September 28th, WECT News released a phone call recording supplied to then by then Democrat Sherrif candidate,, (then captain during the recording of the call in February of 2019), in which he went on a rant to Soles about an apparent “leak” in his office,
“This one particular phone call that [I] received, he made the comment that he hated Democrats. And then he said, ‘I take that back. I hate a Black f***ing Democrat.’ And, and I knew right then, I was like, ‘Wow, this is coming from the sheriff.’ And, I had to start recording those conversations,” Soles said of the moments before he hit record on the phone call. – WECT news

I think there is more to the “story” than what we have been told. Everyone wants to play the race card … this was supposed to be a private conversation. You know we all say things in private or with someone we trust that we would not say publicly. There are 2 sides to every side.

It was a slap to the African American community. We are still waiting on a sincere apology. And the opportunity presented itself at the recent swearing-in ceremony. But it did not occur. After reading the D.A.’s petition for removal, the racial comments only touch the surface of the corruption. I almost forgot about the recorded racial comments when I read the petition. Everyone needs to read that petition line by line. It highlights manipulation tactics for the county commissioners and plenty more. Although I am excited about Barbara Featherson’s win as the first African American female county commissioner (and she’s a Democrat), I’m a little nervous about how she will treated by this sheriff. Let’s see what happens at this hearing.

Jody Green was elected with everyone aware of the remarks he made. The man was doing a great job. Leave him alone and let him do his job

Jody Greene is perpetuating the racist good ole boy culture in Columbus County. He’s above the rules. He’s above the law. He’s above reproach. He’s power hungry & abuses that power at every opportunity. And he wants to fill the sheriff’s department with officers just like him. The POC & antiracists in Columbus County will be in my prayers. They cannot expect to be treated fairly or with respect while his grip remains on the county.
The Irony.
This county truly has two sides to this argument.
Everyone has heard the tape, the issue is that some people are okay with it, and some are not.

Drug use and deaths were up with Jody Greene. We don’t know about crime as he refused to submit reports to the state. Where I stay crime felt like it was going unchecked, but with his racists comments there may bit be enough white people here that he cares about. He was supposed to enforce the law but he felt that it didn’t apply to him. He reported himself to those atheists when he posted that Bible verse to garnish favor with the white evangelical nationalists.
“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”

A sad day for Columbus County. We were rewinding the clock to when things were better. When people knew their station in life and worked hard. This election was stolen for us by RINOS! Sheriff Greene won. The people spoke. They wanted to make Columbus County Great Again! Stop the woke! 3%

Stop picking on Sheriff Greene. He knows the truth, he just says what we all think. I think he should run against Brendan Jones next cycle. That guy won’t poop without Tim Moore’s permission. We need a strong leader. Rogers will be fine for us as Greene and him are good friends. They have even vacationed together.

You CNN with your innocent until proven guilty thing? He had shown no evidence that he does things for anyone one else. His cowardly action today shows he doesn’t want the public to know the truth. He has been proven guilty in the court of public opinion. Can’t wait to see how he looks in orange.

Greene was/is corrupt as they come.
His biggest crime is being too stupid to pull it off well.
He supported local white crime lords.
He took massive dumps on the constitution.
All around sleazy crook.
The local corrupt politicians will replace him with someone smarter this time to make sure the drugs flow and the money gets laundered.

Sheriff Greene is exactly what we need, a no-nonsense lawman who doesn’t sugarcoat things and tells it like it is. Maybe the folks who are complaining should look in a mirror if this kind of sheriff threatens them. We chose him, and we like him!

Mr. Greene is a breath of fresh air. He’s just what this county, state and country needs right about now. His comments (that were made in private) aside, all of the other issues people have with him are just allegations. It’s important to remember that. This is just a witch hunt.

Jody Greene uses derogatory language when communicating with co-workers (ie: cursing at command staff, deputies, and citizens. Also calling African Americans “black bastards”). He fails to differentiate between personal and professional relationships (ie: sleeping with young female detectives under his leadership while married). He demonstrates unprofessional behavior while on work grounds (ie: having sex with multiple co-workers on duty and off duty). He displays prejudices that interfere with maintaining a positive work environment (ie: demotes minorities and promotes people “like him”).
