The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the individual pictured in connection with a stolen K-9 investigation.

On April 29, 2025, our Detectives were contacted regarding a stolen dog. The owner reported that on April 26, she let her K-9 outside for a walk when it ran toward a nearby home and did not return. Later that day, an unknown male approached the neighbor’s home and asked if they had lost a dog. The neighbor, unaware of any missing dogs, told the individual no—at which point the unknown male left the area.

The next day, the dog’s owner was searching for her pet and discovered the dog’s collar discarded in the neighbor’s yard. The neighbor reviewed footage from his Ring doorbell camera and captured an image of the individual who had inquired about the dog. That image is attached below.

If you recognize the person in this photo or have any information that could assist in this investigation, please contact the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 642-6551 or submit a tip via our website.
