Via Columbus County Sheriff’s Office: Today kicks off the NC Governor’s Highway Safety Program’s “Speed a Little. Lose a Lot.” campaign — running April 13th through April 20th.

Excessive speed is one of the leading causes of crashes and fatalities on our roadways. Whether you’re running late or just not paying attention to that speedometer — think twice before you press the gas. It could cost you a ticket, your license, or far worse… a life.

Deputies will be stepping up enforcement throughout the county. If you’re speeding, expect to see blue lights.
The goal? Prevent the next tragedy before it happens.

Sheriff Bill Rogers reminds drivers:

“There’s no place so important that it’s worth risking a life to get there a few minutes faster. Let’s make safety the priority — for your family, your neighbors, and every person on the road.”

Stay safe, Columbus County. Obey the speed limit. Protect your life and the lives of others.
