The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction confirmed to Raleigh news outlet WRAL, that about 312,000 North Carolina teachers’ social security numbers were exposed in the PowerSchool breach that took place in late December, and that another 900+ students also had their social security numbers leaked.
Both Columbus County Schools and Whiteville City Schools have confirmed that they had data leaked in the hack, we do not yet know if social security numbers were included in that data.
PowerSchool will begin sending notifications to affected people in the next two weeks.
