Update
Due to the ongoing inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, GFL will not be providing trash collection services for residents on Friday, January 24, 2025. Per GFL, there are still a lot of secondary roads that are covered in ice. With freezing temperatures until midday, GFL cannot allow the trucks to operate under these unsafe conditions. GFL will resume trash collection services for their Wednesday routes on Saturday morning. If your normal pick up day is Wednesday, please place your trash container by the roadside Friday night to ensure that your trash is collected. GFL’s normal trash collection schedule will resume on Monday. Residents that have extra trash can place it by their trash containers on their collection day and GFL will collect the extra bagged trash.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. If you are a resident that receives trash collection services on Thursdays or Fridays and need to dispose of extra residential trash only, before your normal trash collection day, you may take it free of charge to the Columbus County Transfer Station for disposal. The Columbus County Transfer Station will open tomorrow at 11:00 AM and staff will be more than happy to assist you. If your trash collection day is normally on Wednesday, then you will be serviced on Thursday. If your trash collection day is normally on Thursday, then you will be serviced on Friday. If your trash collection day is normally on Friday, then you will be serviced on Saturday. Please remember to place the receptacle out by the road the night before your collection day. The Columbus County Transfer Station and the Columbus County Recycling Centers will also be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. On Thursday, January 23, 2025, these facilities will be operating on a two hour delay.
