Columbus County residents should be aware of upcoming changes to their utility billing and payment systems. These changes are part of a software transition that is expected to take place in April 2025.

What to Expect:

  • New Utility Bill Format: Customers will receive a new utility bill format starting with the first billing cycle after the software transition.
  • New Online Bill Pay Portal: The current online bill pay portal will be shut down during the transition. Customers will need to use the new online portal, which will be located on the County’s website at ColumbusCo.org.
  • New IVR-Phone Pay System: The current IVR-phone pay system will also be shut down during the transition. A new phone number will be provided on the front of the new utility bills.

Important Notes:

  • Account Numbers: Account numbers will change with the new system. Old account numbers will not work with the new payment platforms.
  • Auto Payments: Customers who have scheduled auto payments through the current online bill pay portal should make alternative arrangements to ensure timely payments during the transition period. Auto payments will not process through the old portal once it is shut down.

Timeline:

The software transition is currently projected to occur in April 2025. The exact dates of the shutdown and the launch of the new systems will be announced closer to the transition period.

More information on the upcoming changes is available at ColumbusCo.org.
