Chadbourn, NC – In the late hours of Wednesday, January 15, 2025, a collaborative operation between the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division and the Chadbourn Police Department resulted in the dismantling of a mother-and-son drug operation in Chadbourn. The raid on the residence at 202 Jackson Street concluded an intensive joint investigation that began in October 2024.
The investigation commenced after complaints were received regarding narcotics activity at the residence. Both the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Division and the Chadbourn Police Department conducted undercover purchases of narcotics. Recognizing the overlapping nature of their investigations, Sheriff Bill Rogers and Chief Elliott coordinated efforts to combine resources, allowing for a comprehensive investigation into the allegations of drug sales.
Following months of meticulous investigative work, a search warrant for the residence was obtained by a member of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office. After a detailed operational briefing, both agencies executed a joint raid on the property. During the search, officers uncovered a substantial quantity of narcotics, two firearms, and U.S. currency linked to illegal drug sales.
“Working closely with departments across Columbus County is essential to our mission of protecting the community from those who spread harm through the distribution of illegal substances,” said Sheriff Bill Rogers. “This operation is a testament to the power of collaboration in removing dangerous individuals from our streets.”
