On December 4, 2024, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Heavy Enforcement Action Team (H.E.A.T.) Team, along with Criminal Investigation Detectives and Narcotics Detectives, successfully apprehended fugitive Raymond Timothy Warren, also known as “Chinaman.” Warren was charged with two counts of Felony Larceny and an outstanding parole violation.
The investigation began on December 2, 2024, when detectives followed leads to a location just outside the town of Whiteville, where they discovered a stolen camper and identified Warren as a suspect. Upon their arrival, Warren attempted to evade arrest, fleeing the scene in a vehicle and recklessly endangering the lives of three detectives who were nearly struck during his escape.
Warren was ultimately apprehended in the Hallsboro community, bringing a swift resolution to a high-risk situation. As part of the investigation, Logan Fowler was also charged with harboring a fugitive. Fowler is being held under a $50,000 secured bond.
“This case highlights the dedication of our team and the importance of working together to bring fugitives to justice and return stolen property to its rightful owners,” said Sheriff Bill Rogers. “We encourage the community to report any suspicious activity to help us continue solving crimes like these.”
This investigation remains active, and additional charges are anticipated as detectives continue their work. The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office extends its gratitude to the community for their support and reminds everyone to remain vigilant. Together, we can make our county safer.
