A man has been charged in a North Whiteville shooting that took place Saturday. Frederick Smith, 71, has been charged with murder and is currently held at the Columbus County Jail.

The woman killed has been identified as Brandi Alexis Scott. Reports claim she called 911 to a home on Elizabeth Street, reported to be shared between the two, after Smith allegedly assaulted her.

Smith is being held without bond.
