The Assembly, a large digital investigative news publication that covers North Carolina and its local outfit Border Belt Independent have filed a lawsuit against Columbus County after numerous public records requests directed to the Sheriff’s Office were ignored.

As publisher of Columbus Daily News, I applaud the outlets for taking action. We must all call for truth and transparency in our local, state, and federal governments, and use our constitutional rights to defend it when necessary.
