Early Friday morning Whiteville High School announced that the school was made aware of a potential threat against the school made online. Safety precautions will be put in place as well as additional law enforcement presence.
“We were recently made aware, through secondhand social media postings, of a potential threat made against Whiteville High School for sometime tomorrow. At this time, we have no knowledge of the original message to suggest there is a direct threat to our school.
However, as always, the safety of our students is our top priority. To ensure a secure environment, we are taking every precaution, including having additional law enforcement officers on site.
We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and continue focusing on learning and growing together as a school community. By supporting one another, we can navigate this time with confidence and strength.
Thank you for your cooperation and trust.”
This comes just 2 days after the deadly shooting at Appalachia High School in Georgia, which left 4 dead after a student opened fire in the school.
If you have information on this situation, contact local law enforcement.
