Southern Tire Damaged ‘Severely’ from Fire and Water Damage

Whiteville Fire Department responded to a fire just before noon at Southern Tire. Closing a portion of S. Madison Street in the process.

A waterline was reported to have broke, causing the water damage.

The following statement was provided by the business:

“Our family would like to thank everyone for all the calls, messages, visits and hugs this morning.  We are overwhelmed with the generosity by everyone and especially the local businesses that have offered to help us.  I don’t want to list names for fear of leaving someone out but I will say that we have the most caring people in  Columbus County!  We all feel the love!  We aren’t sure when we will be able to reopen but we will as soon as possible!  The garage and bays were not damaged which was a huge blessing!  Many thanks to Whiteville Fire Department and other city officials that were helping us this morning.  We appreciate each of you!  The love and compassion we have felt today is the reason why we love Columbus County and her people!”
