Via CCSO: TRAGIC WHITEVILLE HOME INVASION ENDS IN GUNFIRE AND A SWIFT ARREST

Whiteville, NC – On July 13, 2024, a home invasion in Whiteville, North Carolina, escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in the tragic death of one resident and the subsequent arrest of the suspect.

At approximately 7:30 PM, two Sergeants and two Deputies responded to a call at 976 Sunset Terrace regarding a home invasion and a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, they were met by Mr. Harold Ford, the boyfriend of the victim, Ms. Summer Addison. Mr. Ford led the deputies to a bedroom where they found Ms. Addison on the floor with a gunshot wound to her arm and another near her stomach. Whiteville Rescue determined she needed to be airlifted to New Hanover Regional Hospital.

Mr. Ford recounted that he was not home during the incident. He received a distressing phone call from Ms. Addison, during which he overheard his grandson, Mr. Jordan Jyreke Irvin Williams, threatening her and demanding money. Mr. Ford then heard gunshots over the phone and rushed home. Armed with a crowbar, Mr. Ford found Ms. Addison injured and learned that Mr. Williams had shot her. Mr. Ford also revealed that earlier that morning, Mr. Williams appeared intoxicated, so Mr. Ford asked Mr. Williams to leave the residence. During a heated argument, Mr. Williams started to leave, threatening to return. Shortly after he left, gunshots were fired into the home, leaving multiple bullet holes.

Witness statements confirmed that Mr. Williams returned to the residence, forced entry through a window, and shot Ms. Addison. At the scene, deputies discovered spent shell casings inside and outside the residence. Detectives arrived to take over the investigation and collected all evidence. Written statements were obtained from the victim and witnesses.

On July 14, 2024, at approximately 1:30 PM, Mr. Jordan Williams was arrested at Five Points in Chadbourn without incident. He was charged with one felony count of murder and one felony count of first-degree burglary. Mr. Williams is currently being held without bond.
