In a unanimous vote at Tuesday’s board meeting, Columbus County Schools voted to elect Assistant Superintendent Jesse E. “Eddie” Beck II as Superintendent of Columbus County Schools.

The board said a panel of school principals were consulted in the decision.

Beck has been employed by the school district for 28 years, and was named assistant superintendent in 2023.

Current Superintendent Dr. Deanne Meadows who was hired in 2019 will retire at the end of June.
